Aggreko, the generator-hire company has been said to be ready to power Africa’s economic growth.

This was indicated by its Business Development Manager, (Nigeria), Joy Alumona, in a chat with our correspondent at the Sub-Saharan Africa Oil & Gas Conference in Houston, Texas, USA. Aggreko PLC is a supplier of mobile, modular power, heating and cooling equipment and its headquarters are in Scotland, UK.

According to Alumona, although the company is relatively young in the Nigeria, “the company globally has more than 50 years’ experience. We have been offering our solutions for a long time, which gives us ample experience to help our customers more than most.

“We don’t sell our equipment, which means that you go to bed and let us worry about your headache. We install and maintain the equipment for you. We run and operate it. We put all the technical capability in place.”

“You can scale your power to fit your requirements. We are your grid when there is no grid connection.” she said.

Alumona, who said the company has about 33 locations across Africa with about 1.6 gigawatt of power, also added that it has about 110 Megawatts of installed capacity in Nigeria.

Speaking on the conference, she urged stakeholders in the Oil and Gas sector to put into action the knowledge they have gathered in order to fully develop the sector. In her words, “Being here today, I can see the quality of speakers and the kind of things that have happened is really educating. We really need to put these talks into action. We need to take it back home. You can imagine when people are moving forward with technology and we are sitting down- It will be in the interest of everybody if we ensure that these wise words inspire change.”
