Women in Energy Oil and Gas (WEOG) Nigeria will be joining the international community to celebrate the 2020 International Women Day, IWD in Lagos, Nigeria with a one-day public lecture.
Scheduled to hold on Friday, 6th of March 2020 at Oriental Hotel, Victoria Island on a theme, “Energy Women Closing the Energy Gap, Moving the Nation Forward”.
Orient Energy Review magazine confirmed that the event will attract major industry players, women business owners and leaders, stakeholders in the energy value chain and young professionals in the industry.
According to the organizers, “with Women in Energy, Oil and Gas Nigeria, having its origin, vision and mission focused on the United Nations Sustainable development Goals 05 and 08, shall be joining our contemporaries worldwide to observe this year’s International Women’s Day celebration on 6th March 2020.
The International Women’s Day Celebration powered by Women in Energy, Oil and Gas Industry will feature: Special IWD Public Lecture on How to Harness and Leverage the Gas Year Opportunities; Several Keynote sessions, Panel sessions on Diversity and Inclusion in the Energy Oil and Gas Industry; Women in Energy Hall of Fame; Special Achievement and Recognition and Networking at all levels.
The United Nation’s theme for the 2020 International Women’s Day is, “I am Generation Equality: Realizing Women’s Rights”.
The theme is aligned with UN Women’s new multigenerational campaign, Generation Equality, which marks the 25th anniversary of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action.
This year’s campaign theme is #EachforEqual is promoting the concept that an ‘equal world is an enabled world’.
The theme seeks to draw attention to the idea that gender inequality isn’t a women’s issue, but an economic one – as gender equality is essential for economies and communities to thrive,” UN had stated.
