The Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB), Engr. Simbi Wabote recently commissioned a valve assembly Centre in Port Harcourt, Rivers State capital. The Centre was established by TAG Energy Limited in the state.
The commissioning of the Centre, which is the second of its kind commissioned in the state by the NCDMB boss in the last month in the state, according to the board, serves as a clear demonstration of the growth of Nigerian businesses and their contribution to the development of in-country capacities and capabilities.
“The Nigerian Oil and Gas Service companies play crucial roles in the provision of services and sustenance and growth of the Nigerian oil and gas industry,” Engr. Wabote said while speaking during the commissioning ceremony.
Engr. Wabote appreciated companies that offer services to the oil and gas industry and make their mark through the provision of top-notch services to diverse clientele in the industry.
The NCDMB boss revealed that the Nigerian Content Equipment Certificate (NCEC), is one of the important tools introduced by the NCDMB to encourage local manufacturing, assembly, fabrication, threading, coating, repair/maintenance, calibration and testing of equipment.
According to him, NCEC has facilitated the establishment and development of facilities and infrastructure for local manufacturing and related activities in collaboration with original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), investors and technical partners.
He further pointed out that NCEC has helped to promote the development and growth of human capital, especially local skilled manpower and industry/technology experts.
Extolling TAG Energy Limited for its contribution to the attainment of the Nigerian Content 10-year strategic roadmap, Engr. Wabote said that the company’s facility is a one-stop-shop for valve supply and repair services with a trained team of competent and resourceful engineers to carry out repairs and maintenance of valves on-site by reducing the off-site refurbishment.
“TAG Energy Limited is an integrated service company offering a comprehensive range of oilfield products and services in the Nigerian Oil and Gas Industry,” he said.
The NCDMB boss said that the valve assembly plant provides a wide range of valve supplies, repairs, and maintenance services including Control Valve repairs, Ball, Gate, Global and Check Valves, Sleeved and Lined Plug Valves, High-Performance Butterfly Valves and Pneumatic Actuators.
Engr. Wabote called on other service providing companies to adopt TAG Energy method by investing in manufacturing and provision of services that will benefit the Nigerian economy.
Earlier in his welcome address, the Managing Director of TAG Energy Limited, Mr. Yemi Gbadamosi, applauded NCDMB for its passion to grow local content and Nigerian businesses in the oil and gas industry.
Mr. Gbadamosi stated that the valve assembling Centre will produce valves for the local markets as well as for exports within and beyond the African continent.
“Our investment in this modest facility is not only to provide premium services to our clients but also to serve as a training center for young Nigerians especially those from our host communities who suffer most of the negative impact of the exploration and production activities,” he said.
The commissioning ceremony was attended by representatives of international and local oil-producing companies.
