The German armed forces (Bundeswehr) has commissioned solar plants at three locations in Nigeria built and operated by Daystar Power.

The plants at Abuja and Jaji, Kaduna have a total output of 103.8 kilowatts and have been operating since November 2017, creating a self-sufficient and sustainable ecosystem around the German Bundeswehr sites. Two further locations in Nigeria are already in the planning stage.

Daystar Power specialises in energy supply and belongs to Sunray Ventures. The company is aiming to contribute significantly to the electrification of the African continent through private equity investments, thereby promoting the systematic expansion of renewable energy resources on the continent.

Stuart Brannigan, Managing Director of the official supplier of AEG PV modules, Solar Solutions GmbH, added that AEG high-performance modules were deployed in the framework of the cooperation between Germany and Nigeria as part of the basic equipment of three Bundeswehr projects.
