Confirmed cases of Coronavirus (COVID-19) in Nigeria on Wednesday rose to 51 according to the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control.
The NCDC, on its website and Twitter handle, said, “On the 25th of March, 2020, six new confirmed cases of COVID-19 were recorded in Nigeria.
“Of the new six cases reported on March 25, two are in Lagos State, one is in Osun State, one in Rivers State and two are in the Federal Capital Territory.
Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) and Ekiti Governor, Kayode Fayemi, has appealed to his colleagues to test for coronavirus.
Fayemi called on his colleagues to undergo the test when recalled that many governors attended the last Wednesday’s meeting of the NGF.
The Governor who went into self-isolation on Tuesday is awaiting his COVID-19 test result.
The NGF in a statement on Wednesday by Abdulrazaq Bello-Barkindo, Head, Media and Public Affairs of the NGF, quoted Fayemi as advising the governors to self-isolate.
He said Nigeria and citizens must ensure that the spread of the disease remains at its lowest ebb.
“In the same vein, he calls upon all Nigerians who attended functions, at which at least one person was positively identified with COVID – 19, to immediately self-isolate and come forward to the NCDC for identification and to do tests.
“Hiding from the public and self-treatment places the entire public at risk. We should all do our part to stop the spread of this highly infectious disease. COVID -19 virus infection is treatable. The earlier it is identified the better.”
The Chairman who wished all persons with COVID-19 in Nigeria and other countries full recovery, also prayed God to repose the soul of all those who lost their lives to the disease all over the world.
