Strong indications have emerged that implementation of Nigerian content, which was less than five per cent before 2010, when the Nigerian Oil and Gas Industry Content Development (NOGICD) Act was enacted, rose to 14 per cent in 2014 and 35 per cent in 2015, Independent reports.
The Manager, Strategy and Policy Development Division (SPDD) of the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB), Mr. Abdulmalik Halilu, while making a presentation during a visit of a Ugandan delegation seeking for a replica model of the Nigerian content, added that the local content level would increase to 50 per cent by 2017.
According to him, contracts awarded by operating companies to Nigerian service companies had also increased from about 40 per cent of total contracts before 2010 to 75 per cent in 2015 while the target was to achieve 85 per cent by 2017.
