The Executive Management of Seplat Plc led by Dr ABC Orjiako and Mr Austin Avuru recently paid a courtesy visit to the Governor of Imo State, His Excellency, Emeka Ihedioha.
The top management of the indigenous oil and gas exploration and production company seized the opportunity to brief the Governor on the company’s activities from aggressively growing exploration and production of oil and gas to their community engagement scorecard.
Special mention was made of the Annoh gas project which has the potential of producing over 300MMScf of gas, enough gas to fire power generation plant producing 3,000MW of power. The size of the project is such that the production of the Annoh gas field if used to generate power can generate the current national distribution capacity of just 2,980MW.
Receiving the Seplat team, the Governor thanked Seplat and requested for more mutually beneficial partnership, adding that the state government takes Ease of Doing Business very seriously.
Speaking further, the Governor implored Seplat to establish a permanent presence in Imo State and assured the companies of government’s assistance to enable them to build their operational headquarters in Owerri.
Joining the Governor in receiving the Seplat team, the Deputy Governor, Sir Jude Agbaso said that it is expected that the oil company’s gas project will boost the state’s Internal Generated Revenue (IGR), create employment for the youths and unlock other opportunities in the areas of road networks and development.
